To level up in Oblivion, increase any combination of your major skills by a total of 10
. When you reach this point, a notification will appear on screen, signaling that you are ready to level up
. To start the leveling process, you must sleep in a bed, which can be one you own or rent
. Upon waking, you can increase three of your eight attributes
. Raising the level of skills governed by an attribute may give you a bonus modifier on that attribute
. Regardless of whether you raise major or minor skills, the bonus will be the same
. The attributes are
:
- Agility: Governs Marksman, Security, and Sneak; affects balance, fatigue, and arrow damage.
- Endurance: Governs Armorer, Block, and Heavy Armor; affects fatigue, health, and health increases when leveling up.
- Intelligence: Governs Alchemy, Conjuration, and Mysticism; affects total Magicka and magic use.
- Luck: Not governed by any skills; affects everything you do and can be increased by one point each level.
- Personality: Governs Illusion, Mercantile, and Speechcraft; affects how much people like you.
- Speed: Governs Acrobatics, Athletics, and Light Armor; affects how quickly you move.
- Strength: Governs Blade, Blunt, and Hand-to-Hand; affects carry weight, fatigue, and melee weapon damage.
- Willpower: Governs Alteration, Destruction, and Restoration; affects Magicka regeneration and fatigue.
