To make a chest in Minecraft, follow these steps:
- Gather Wood Planks : First, collect wood by punching trees. Then convert the wood logs into wood planks. You will need 8 wood planks of any type (oak, spruce, birch, etc.)
- Craft a Crafting Table : If you don't already have one, craft a crafting table by placing 4 wood planks in your personal 2x2 crafting grid
- Open the Crafting Table : Right-click (or tap) the crafting table to open the 3x3 crafting grid
- Place the Wood Planks : Arrange 8 wood planks around the edges of the 3x3 grid, leaving the center slot empty. This forms a "wooden donut" shape
- Craft the Chest : After placing the planks correctly, a chest icon will appear. Click or tap it to move the chest into your inventory
- Place the Chest : To place the chest in the world, right-click on the ground or a block surface where you want it
Additional Tips:
- Placing two chests side-by-side creates a double chest with twice the storage slots (54 slots instead of 27)
- You can use any type of wood planks to craft chests, and mixing different wood types still works
- Chests can be placed underwater and in lava without burning
- Use an axe to break chests faster; when broken, they drop all stored items
This is the basic and most common way to make and use a chest in Minecraft for storing items safely and organizing your inventory
