To make obsidian in Minecraft, follow these steps:

1. Craft a Bucket
   You need a bucket to collect water. Craft it using 3 iron ingots placed in a "V" shape on a crafting table

2. Collect Water
   Find a water source such as a lake, river, or ocean. Use the bucket to collect water by right-clicking on the water source

3. Find Lava Source Blocks
   Locate stationary (source) lava blocks, usually found underground in lava pools. Stationary lava blocks are full blocks, not flowing lava. Flowing lava will turn into cobblestone instead of obsidian when water touches it

4. Pour Water Over Lava
   Place the water so it flows over the stationary lava blocks. When water contacts lava source blocks, it converts them into obsidian

5. Mine the Obsidian
   Use a diamond or netherite pickaxe to mine the obsidian. Other pickaxes will destroy the block without dropping obsidian. Mining obsidian takes about 15 seconds per block, so be patient. It’s recommended to keep water flowing over the obsidian while mining to prevent losing blocks if there is lava underneath

• Make sure to mine obsidian carefully to avoid falling into lava beneath it.
• Obsidian is used to build Nether portals and enchantment tables, among other things
