To measure your inseam accurately, follow these steps:
- Stand straight with your back against a wall and your feet flat on the floor about shoulder-width apart.
- Place a hardcover book or a spirit level between your legs , sliding it up firmly until it touches your crotch, mimicking the position of sitting on a bike saddle or the crotch seam of pants. Make sure the book or level is held parallel to the floor and pressed snugly against the wall
- Mark the point on the wall where the top edge of the book or level meets.
- Measure the distance from the floor to the mark on the wall. This measurement is your inseam length
Alternatively, if measuring pants:
- Lay a pair of pants flat and measure along the inside seam from just below the crotch to the bottom of the leg hem
This inseam measurement corresponds to the length of the inner leg and is used for fitting jeans, shorts, or sizing bicycles properly
. For best accuracy, repeat the measurement a few times or use different methods (such as measuring pants you already own) to confirm your inseam length
