To open a typical combination locker lock, follow these steps:

1. Turn the dial to the right (clockwise) three full rotations to clear the lock. Then stop turning when the dial aligns with the first number of your combination.
2. Turn the dial to the left (counterclockwise) one full rotation past the first number, and then continue turning until you reach the second number of your combination. Stop there.
3. Turn the dial to the right again and stop at the third number of your combination.
4. With the dial aligned on the last number, pull up or down on the lock's shackle (the loop part) or lift the locker handle to open it.

If it doesn’t open on the first try, repeat the steps more slowly to ensure accuracy. If it still won’t open, check if the locker latch is jammed or ask for help from a teacher or custodian.
