To post anonymously in a Facebook group, follow these steps:
- Ensure the Group Allows Anonymous Posting
Anonymous posting must be enabled by the group admin. If you don't see the option to post anonymously, the feature is likely not turned on for that group
- Go to the Facebook Group
Open Facebook (on desktop or mobile app) and navigate to the group where you want to post anonymously
- Start a New Post
Click or tap on the "Write something..." or "Compose Post" box within the group
- Select the Anonymous Post Option
Look for the "Anonymous Post" toggle or button near the post box. Turn on or tap this option to enable anonymous posting for your post
- Confirm the Anonymous Posting Prompt
Facebook will show a prompt explaining how anonymous posts work. Confirm by clicking "I want to post anonymously" or "Got it"
- Write Your Post
Type your message as usual. Remember, you cannot edit the post after submitting it
- Submit Your Post
Click or tap "Submit" or "Post". Your post may require approval by group admins before it appears publicly
- Post Appearance
Once live, your post will show up as from "Group member" or "Anonymous member" in private groups, and "Group participant" in public groups. Your identity remains hidden from other group members but visible to admins and moderators
Additional Notes:
- Anonymous posting is only available in groups where admins have enabled it, typically private groups
- Comments on anonymous posts are also anonymous to other members but visible to admins
- If you do not see the anonymous post option, check your app permissions like location tracking or update your app, as these can affect availability
This feature helps users share sensitive information or opinions without revealing their identity to the group, while still allowing admins to monitor content for community standards compliance
