To raise your hand in a Zoom meeting, follow these steps:
- Join the Zoom meeting using the Zoom app (this feature is not available if you join via a browser).
- Look for the "Reactions" button on the meeting control toolbar, usually at the bottom of the Zoom window.
- Click on "Reactions," then select "Raise Hand" from the menu that appears.
- A hand icon will appear next to your name in the participant list and on your video window, signaling to the host and other participants that you want to speak or ask a question.
- To lower your hand, click "Lower Hand" in the same Reactions menu or the host can lower it for you
Alternatively, you can use keyboard shortcuts:
- On Windows, press Alt + Y to toggle raising or lowering your hand.
- On macOS, press Option + Y for the same function
On mobile devices (Android or iPhone), tap "More" (three dots) at the bottom right of the screen during the meeting, then tap "Raise Hand"
. This feature helps maintain order in meetings by allowing participants to signal they want to contribute without interrupting the speaker
