Notes on Automatic Page Breaks
- Word inserts automatic page breaks based on content flow and page size; these cannot be deleted directly.
- You can adjust how paragraphs break across pages by selecting the paragraphs, going to the Layout (or Page Layout) tab, opening the Paragraph dialog box, and under the Line and Page Breaks tab, selecting options like Keep with next , Keep lines together , or Widow/Orphan control to control page breaks more gracefully
Troubleshooting Stubborn Page Breaks
- If a page break cannot be deleted, check for section breaks or hidden formatting marks that might be causing the issue.
- Remove any document protection under the Review tab if changes are restricted.
- Try switching views (e.g., Print Layout, Draft) or restarting Word if the page break remains unresponsive
By following these methods, you can effectively remove unwanted page breaks and control page layout in your Word document.
