To right-click on a Mac, which is called a secondary click or Control-click, you have several options depending on whether you use a mouse or trackpad:
Using the Trackpad
- Two-finger tap or click: Tap or click the trackpad with two fingers simultaneously to open the right-click menu. This is the most common and easiest method on MacBooks and Magic Trackpads
- You can customize this gesture by going to Apple menu > System Settings > Trackpad and enabling or adjusting the "Secondary click" option. You can choose to click with two fingers or click in a corner of the trackpad
Using a Mouse
- Control-click: Hold the Control key on your keyboard and click the mouse button. This works with any mouse
- Right-click button: If you have a two-button mouse (including many non-Apple mice), simply clicking the right mouse button will perform a right-click as expected
- Magic Mouse: For Appleās Magic Mouse, you may need to enable the secondary click in System Settings > Mouse and choose whether the right-click is on the right or left side of the mouse
