To send an HD photo on WhatsApp, follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp and go to the chat where you want to send the photo.
- Tap the attachment icon (paperclip on Android or "+" on iOS).
- Select "Photo & Video Library" or "Gallery" to choose the image you want to send.
- After selecting the photo, look for the HD button at the top of the preview screen.
- Tap the HD button, then choose HD quality from the popup menu.
- Tap the Send button to share the photo in high definition.
The recipient will see an "HD" label on the photo, indicating it is sent in higher resolution with minimal compression
. Additional notes:
- This feature is available on both Android and iPhone.
- HD photos are larger in file size and may take longer to send.
- WhatsApp still applies slight compression, but the resolution is much higher than the standard compressed photos.
- You can also set WhatsApp to send all photos in HD quality automatically by going to Settings > Storage and Data > Media Upload Quality and selecting HD quality as default
- The HD option appears only for sufficiently large photos; smaller images may not show the HD toggle
This method preserves photo details better than the usual WhatsApp compression, making it ideal for sharing high-quality images.
