To send your location on WhatsApp, follow these steps:
- Enable Location Permission
Before sharing, ensure WhatsApp has permission to access your location in your phone’s settings. On Android, go to Settings > Apps > WhatsApp > Permissions > Location and enable it. On iPhone, go to Settings > WhatsApp > Location and set it to "Always" for live location sharing
- Open the Chat
Launch WhatsApp and open the individual or group chat where you want to share your location
- Attach Location
Tap the attachment icon (paperclip on Android, plus icon on iPhone) in the chat window, then select "Location"
-
Choose Location Type
You can either:- Share your Current Location , which sends a static snapshot of where you are at that moment.
- Share your Live Location , which updates your whereabouts in real-time for a selected duration (15 minutes, 1 hour, or 8 hours)
- Send Location
After choosing the location type and duration (for live location), tap "Send." Your location will be shared in the chat, visible only to the recipients
Additional Tips
- To stop sharing your live location before the time expires, open the chat and tap "Stop Sharing"
- Your location is private and only visible to the chat participants you share it with; it cannot be forwarded
This method works on both Android and iPhone devices and is useful for coordinating meetups, ensuring safety, or simply letting others know where you are
