To sync a Wii Remote with a Wii console, follow these steps:
- Turn on the Wii console by pressing the Power button.
- Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console (on the Wii mini, the SYNC button is on the left side near the battery compartment).
- Remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to access the SYNC button. Some models have a hole in the battery cover and a tool on the wrist strap to press the SYNC button without removing the cover.
- Press and release the SYNC button on the Wii Remote; the Player LED on the front will start blinking.
- While the Wii Remote LEDs are blinking, quickly press and release the red SYNC button inside the SD Card Slot on the Wii console.
- When the Player LED on the Wii Remote stops blinking and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The lit LED indicates the player number (1 through 4).
- Repeat this process for each additional Wii Remote you want to sync.
Additional notes:
- Ensure the Wii Remote has fresh batteries.
- Syncing must be done from the Wii main menu, and all applications should be exited if syncing fails.
- The Wii Remote in Standard Mode can turn the console on or off.
- If the sync doesn't work, try holding both SYNC buttons on the console and remote simultaneously for 3-5 seconds
This procedure pairs your Wii Remote to the console, allowing it to function properly during gameplay.
