To thread a bobbin for your sewing machine, follow these general steps:
- Prepare the Thread and Bobbin:
- Place your spool of thread on the spool pin of your sewing machine and secure it with the spool cap.
- Pull the thread from the spool and wind it a few times clockwise around the bobbin, passing the thread tail up through one of the holes on top of the bobbin from the inside out
- Set the Bobbin on the Winder:
- Place the bobbin onto the bobbin winding spindle and push it down firmly.
- Engage the bobbin winder by pushing the bobbin and spindle to the right (or as your machine indicates)
- Wind the Bobbin:
- Hold the thread tail lightly and start the machine by pressing the foot pedal or start button.
- After a few rotations, stop the machine and trim the excess thread close to the bobbin.
- Resume winding until the bobbin is full or the machine stops automatically
- Remove and Insert the Bobbin:
- Move the bobbin winder spindle back to the left and remove the bobbin.
- Insert the bobbin into the bobbin case or bobbin compartment of your machine, ensuring the thread unwinds in the correct direction (usually counterclockwise).
- Pull the thread through the bobbin tension slot or guide according to your machine’s instructions, often following a path shaped like a "P" or "E" for perfect tension
- Replace the Bobbin Cover:
- Put the bobbin cover back on securely.
- Pull the bobbin thread out slightly and you are ready to thread the top thread and begin sewing
These steps are quite consistent across most sewing machines, but it’s always good to consult your machine’s manual for specific details. Watching a tutorial video can also help visualize the process
