To turn on noise cancelling on your AirPods, follow these methods depending on your AirPods model and device:

For AirPods Pro and AirPods 4 (with ANC)

• Using the AirPods Force Sensor:
  • Wear both AirPods.
  • Press and hold the force sensor on the stem of either AirPod until you hear a chime.
  • This toggles between Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Transparency mode, and Off. For AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods 4, Adaptive Audio is also an option

• Using iPhone/iPad Control Center:
  • Connect your AirPods to your iPhone or iPad.
  • Swipe down from the top-right corner to open Control Center.
  • Press and hold the volume slider showing your AirPods.
  • Tap "Noise Control."
  • Select "Active Noise Cancellation"

• Using iPhone/iPad Settings:
  • Go to Settings > Bluetooth.
  • Tap the "i" icon next to your AirPods.
  • Under Noise Control, select "Active Noise Cancellation"

• Using Siri:
  • With AirPods connected, say "Hey Siri, turn on noise cancellation."
  • Siri will activate ANC for you

For AirPods Max

• Press the Noise Control button on the right ear cup (a flat silver button opposite the Digital Crown).
• Each press cycles through Noise Cancellation, Transparency mode, and Off

• You can also enable noise cancelling via Control Center or Bluetooth settings on your iPhone, iPad, or Mac similar to AirPods Pro
