Chiko Rolls were first sold in the year 1951. They made their debut at the Wagga Wagga Agriculture Show in that year. The Chiko Roll was invented by Frank McEncroe, inspired by Chinese spring rolls, and initially called the "Chicken Roll" despite containing no chicken. The product was designed as a convenient, substantial snack easily eaten on the move.
