The largest plateau in the world is the Tibetan Plateau, also known as the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. It covers an area of about 2.5 million square kilometers (970,000 square miles) and has an average elevation of around 4,500 meters (14,800 feet) above sea level. This plateau is not only the largest but also the highest plateau on Earth, often called the "Roof of the World" due to its extreme elevation. It spans across parts of China, India, Bhutan, Nepal, and other regions in Central Asia and is the source of several major Asian rivers.
