• The goldsmith: Tried because he did not complete the dancing girl's jewellery order on time, forcing her to visit him repeatedly.
• The merchant (second time): Tried because the goldsmith delayed the dancing girl's order to prioritize the jewellery order of the merchant's father. Since the father died, the merchant had to face the consequences.
• The disciple: Tried because a fat man was required to fit the execution stake, and the disciple was fat enough to be caught for execution in place of the thin merchant.
