How to Check and Enable Secure Boot on Windows 11
- To check if Secure Boot is enabled, type "System Information" in the Windows search bar, open it, and look for "Secure Boot State." If it says "Off," Secure Boot is disabled.
- To enable Secure Boot, you need to enter your PC's UEFI/BIOS settings. You can do this by:
- Going to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Advanced startup > Restart now.
- Then choose Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart.
- Once in the BIOS/UEFI setup, locate the Secure Boot option (usually under the Boot or Security tab) and set it to "Enabled."
- Save changes and exit BIOS. Your PC will reboot with Secure Boot enabled.
Important Notes
- Your PC must be in UEFI mode, not Legacy BIOS, for Secure Boot to work. If your PC uses Legacy BIOS, you may need to convert your disk from MBR to GPT and switch firmware settings to UEFI.
- Some PCs might also require TPM activation alongside Secure Boot to meet Windows 11 requirements.
- Consult your PC or motherboard manufacturer's documentation for specific instructions tailored to your hardware.
