A television show, also known as a TV program or simply a TV show, is any content produced specifically for viewing on a television set. This content can be transmitted via over-the-air signals, satellite, cable, or distributed digitally through streaming platforms. Television shows can be one-time specials, miniseries with limited episodes, or regularly recurring series organized into seasons or series. They exclude breaking news and advertisements and can be produced in-house or by contracted film production companies. Scheduled programming on traditional TV networks is often planned ahead, but streaming has changed viewing habits, allowing on-demand watching. Popular shows may continue if ratings are high or can be canceled if not, though sometimes strong home video or streaming viewership can revive canceled shows.
