The Who, the legendary rock band, has fired their longtime drummer Zak Starkey for the second time within a month. Starkey, who is the son of Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, has been playing with The Who since 1996. The initial firing occurred after dissatisfaction with his performance at a concert at the Royal Albert Hall in London, where frontman Roger Daltrey reportedly complained about Starkey "overplaying" and causing sound issues on stage. Starkey was briefly reinstated after some private discussions and attempts to resolve the issues, but was dismissed again shortly thereafter ahead of the band's North American farewell tour. Guitarist Pete Townshend described the decision as mutual and said it was "a poignant time" for a change, wishing Starkey well with his new projects. However, Starkey contested that he was dismissed rather than quitting voluntarily and expressed his love for the band, stating he would never have walked away. He also mentioned experiencing weeks of chaos with going "in and out" of the band during this period. Scott Devours, who has worked with Roger Daltrey's solo band, is set to replace Starkey for the upcoming tour. The situation reflects a turbulent time for The Who's lineup, with Starkey being the band's longest-serving drummer after Keith Moon and Kenney Jones. The band emphasized respect for Starkey and wished him success in his future endeavors
