The Sandringham Estate is a private country estate located in Norfolk, England, covering about 20,000 to 25,000 acres. It has been a royal residence for over 150 years and is personally owned by the reigning monarch, currently King Charles III. The estate includes Sandringham House, a large Jacobethan- style country house built between 1870 and 1900 for Albert Edward, Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII), and his wife Princess Alexandra of Denmark. The house and estate have been a favored retreat for British monarchs, including Queen Elizabeth II and her predecessors George V and George VI, both of whom died there. The estate is known for its extensive gardens, parkland, and game shooting grounds, and it traditionally hosts the Royal Family's Christmas celebrations with a church service at Mary Magdalene Church on the grounds. Unlike royal palaces owned by the Crown, Sandringham is privately owned by the monarch and passed down through the royal family
. Recently, the estate has also been a venue for notable events such as a historic concert by the rock band The Who, performed with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra in August 2023
