The Victoria Tower is a prominent structure at the southwest end of the Palace of Westminster in London. It is the tallest part of the palace, standing about 98.5 meters (323 feet) high, and houses the Parliamentary Archives. The tower was designed by Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin in the Perpendicular Gothic style and was completed in 1860. Its main entrance at the base is the sovereign’s entrance used by the monarch during the State Opening of Parliament, and its summit bears an iron flagstaff that flies the Union Flag or the royal standard when the sovereign is present.
