Terborg is a small city in the Achterhoek region in the eastern Netherlands, located in the province of Gelderland. It is part of the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek. Geographically, Terborg lies about 7 kilometers southeast of Doetinchem and is situated on the river Oude IJssel. The city is near several other places: Gaanderen to the north, Etten to the west, and Silvolde to the south. Terborg has a train station on the Arnhem-Winterswijk railway line. Historically, Terborg originated around the 13th century adjacent to Castle Wisch, which was built by the Lords of Wisch on the eastern bank of the Oude IJssel. The name Terborg means "by the castle" ("ter burcht"). The city was granted city rights in 1419. Today, Terborg is known for its historic sites, including the castle, and its proximity to nature areas such as the Paasberg. The coordinates of Terborg are approximately 51.92°N latitude and 6.36°E longitude. It has a population of around 4,600 inhabitants and serves largely as a local shopping and residential town in the municipality of Oude IJsselstreek.
