There have been three actors who played Dumbledore in the Harry Potter film series. Richard Harris played Dumbledore in the first two films, Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone (2001) and Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002) . After Harris death in October 2002, Michael Gambon took over the role and portrayed Dumbledore in the remaining six films from 2004 to 2011. Jude Law played a younger version of Dumbledore in the prequel films Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018) and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022) .
