Ducks usually start laying eggs between the ages of 4 and 7 months, or 16-28 weeks of age, depending on the breed and the season. Pekin ducks, for example, start laying eggs when they are about 26-28 weeks of age and can be kept economically for about 40 weeks of production, during which they will have laid about 160 eggs. Most ducks should be laying at a rate of about 90% within 5 weeks of the onset of laying. Its important to note that mating has nothing to do with laying eggs, and ducks lay eggs regardless of whether theres a drake present or not.
