Girls usually stop growing and reach their adult height by 14 or 15 years old, or a couple of years after menstruation begins. However, this age could be younger depending on when a girl first gets her period. Most girls will have a growth spurt in the one to two years before menstruation starts, and they grow just 1 to 2 additional inches in the year or two after getting their first period. After menstruation starts, it is typical to grow another 7 cm (2.75 inches) in height.
