The animal that eats mainly eucalyptus leaves is the koala. Koalas are herbivorous, primarily arboreal marsupials of the eucalyptus forests. They have adapted to withstand the harsh chemical composition of the leaves, which are toxic and low in nutritional value. Due to the low nutritional value of eucalyptus leaves, koalas must spend at least four hours per day foraging for food. Although there are other animals that eat eucalyptus leaves, such as the Greater Glider Possum, the Common Wombat, and the Ringtail Possum, they do not solely feed on eucalyptus leaves and have a varied diet including other plant matter such as flowers, berries, and seeds.
