Despite her edgy look, her long ears clearly indicate her animal type as a rabbit. Kuromi is known as the rival of another Sanrio character, My Melody, who is also a rabbit. Kuromi's character combines the cute attributes of a rabbit with a rebellious and playful persona, which distinguishes her within the Sanrio universe. In some depictions, Kuromi has a black devil-like tail, adding to her unique and quirky design, but fundamentally, she is a rabbit.
