Credits in GPA refer to the numerical value assigned to a course based on the number of hours assigned to each class per week. Credits are used to determine the weighting factor assigned to a grade for use in the grade point average computation. A grade of A, B, C, D, F, or NC may be assigned a GPA credit of 0, 1/4, 1/2, or 1, depending on the course. The total number of grade points earned is divided by the total number of credits attempted to calculate the GPA. The GPA is a numerical representation of a students academic performance and may range from 0.0 to 4.0.
