Succulent plants are a group of plants that store water in their leaves, stems, or roots, making them drought-resistant and able to survive in arid climates or soil conditions. They are often grown as ornamental plants because of their striking and unusual appearance, as well as their ability to thrive with relatively minimal care. Some key characteristics of succulent plants include:

• Thick, fleshy parts: Succulent plants have parts that are thickened, fleshy, and engorged, usually to retain water.

• Water-storing tissue: By definition, succulent plants are drought-resistant plants in which the leaves, stem, or roots have become more than usually fleshy by the development of water-storing tissue.

• Adaptation to dry environments: Succulent plants are specialized plants that store water in their leaves and/or stems, allowing them to survive in low moisture regions of the world.

• Low maintenance: Succulent plants are easy to care for and can thrive in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.

Succulent plants are found in more than 60 plant families, with members of Aizoaceae, Cactaceae, and Crassulaceae being dominantly succulent. Some common types of succulent plants include cacti, agave, aloe, carrion flower, stem succulent, and sempervivum. While cacti are by definition succulents, they are often referred to separately from other succulents.

Succulent plants are often grown as houseplants or used to adorn indoor and outdoor settings due to their minimal care requirement and attractive appearance. They prefer well-drained soil and bright light, and can be propagated easily.
