The heart has four chambers, each separated by valves which direct the flow of blood. The four chambers are:

• Right atrium: This chamber receives oxygen-poor blood from the body and pumps it to the right ventricle.

• Left atrium: This chamber receives oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pumps it to the left ventricle.

• Right ventricle: This chamber pumps oxygen-poor blood to the lungs to receive oxygen.

• Left ventricle: This chamber pumps oxygen-rich blood to the body.

Each chamber plays an important role in managing the heartbeat and blood flow throughout the body. The hearts chambers work together with other parts of the heart, such as the valves and arteries, to keep the heart pumping and recirculating blood throughout the body every minute of every day.
