Hunter Biden has been indicted on three federal gun charges. The charges stem from the purchase of a handgun by Mr. Biden in October 2018, during a low point in his life when he was addicted to crack cocaine, using prostitutes, and having money problems. The charges against him are as follows:

• Lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, which carries a maximum penalty of 10 years in jail.
• Making a false claim on the federal firearms application used to screen applicants, with a sentence of up to five years.
• Possession of an illegally obtained gun from Oct. 12 to Oct. 23, 2018, which carries a maximum of 10 years.

If convicted on all counts, Hunter Biden could theoretically face as much as 25 years in prison and fines of up to $750,000. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his lawyer plans to file a motion to dismiss the case, challenging their constitutionality. The case is now on track towards a possible trial as the 2024 election looms.
