Alcohol poisoning is a serious and potentially deadly condition that can occur when someone drinks large amounts of alcohol in a short period of time. The following are signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning:
- Mental confusion and stupor
- Difficulty remaining conscious or inability to wake up
- Vomiting
- Seizures
- Slow or irregular breathing (fewer than eight breaths per minute or 10 seconds or more between breaths)
- Clammy skin or paleness
- Slow heart rate
- Loss of gag reflex
- Extremely low body temperature, bluish skin color, or paleness
Its important to note that a person with alcohol poisoning may not have all of these symptoms, and even one symptom can indicate a medical emergency. If you suspect someone has alcohol poisoning, call 911 or your local emergency number immediately.
