According to Islamic eschatology, there are many signs that will precede the coming of Imam Mahdi. Some of these signs are:

• Widespread corruption and the earth being filled with wrongdoing and aggression.
• Great confutation, intense disputes, and violent deaths.
• The appearance of Sufyani and Yamani.
• The loud cry in the sky.
• The murder of Nafs-e-Zakiyyah.
• The earth swallowing a group of people.
• The emergence of the Sufyani.
• The double eclipse in Ramadan.
• The battle in Mina.
• The Euphrates will disclose a mountain of gold.
• Extravagant mansions will be constructed.
• Singers will be considered respectable.
• War shall be prevalent.
• Gambling will be prevalent.
• People will fear living in their own homes.
• The dark of night will not be deemed necessary for the commitment of sins.

It is important to note that the signs differ based on Sunni and Shia branches of Islam. The appearance of Imam Mahdi is one of the signs of Qiyamah, and he will be a righteous man from among the descendants of Prophet Muhammad. His name will be Muhammad ibn ‘Abd-Allah al-Mahdi, or Ahmad ibn ‘Abd-Allah al-Mahdi, and he will be descended from Fatimah, the daughter of the Messenger of Allah.
