Texans will have a chance to cast their votes for the General Elections on November 7th for several statewide and local seats. The following are some of the races and candidates that voters will see on the ballot:
- Races for mayor of Houston and Uvalde
- 14 proposed changes to the state constitution
- Dozens of bond proposals from 10 North Texas school districts
- Dozens of propositions from several North Texas municipalities
Texans will also decide the fate of 14 constitutional amendments recently sent to the ballot by state lawmakers during the November 7th election. Many of the proposed amendments would create or alter funds to support higher education research, water infrastructure, gas-fueled power plants, broadband infrastructure, and more.
Polls will be open in Texas from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on November 7th. Photo identification is required to vote in person in all Texas elections, and acceptable forms of ID are listed on the Texas Secretary of State website. If you are eligible to vote by mail and submitted your application by the October 27th deadline, the ballot must be turned in by 7 p.m. on November 7th.
Voters needing assistance at the polls due to conditions laid out in Section 208 of the Voting Rights Act (VRA) can find information on the Texas Secretary of State website. Early voting in person runs from October 23rd to November 3rd, and voters can cast ballots at any polling location in the county where they are registered to vote.
