To receive money through a bank transfer, you need to provide the person sending you money with the following details:
- Full name
- 6-digit sort code
- 8-digit account number
These details are required for domestic bank transfers in the UK. If you are receiving money from abroad, you may also need to provide additional details such as IBAN, SWIFT/BIC code, and bank address. As a recipient, you are not required to key in your own bank account details - thats down to the sender. Your job is to make sure youve submitted the right details.
It is important to double-check all details, even if preloaded by your bank, to avoid sending money to the wrong account. It is also recommended to send a small test payment of £1 or less before the full amount to ensure accuracy.
