Heath Ledger played the Joker in Christopher Nolans 2008 superhero film "The Dark Knight"). The film is the second installment in Nolans "Dark Knight Trilogy" and follows Batman as he tries to stop the Joker from wreaking havoc and chaos on the people of Gotham. Ledgers performance as the Joker was widely praised and he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his role.
