The Citadel is a public military college located in Charleston, South Carolina. It is not a military branch nor owned by a particular military branch. The Citadel offers commissioning opportunities in all branches of the armed services, including the Air Force, Army, Marines, and Navy. The military program is made up of cadets pursuing bachelors degrees who live on campus. The Citadel is most recognized for its Corps of Cadets, drawing students from about 45 states and a dozen countries. The men and women in the Corps live and study under a classical military system that makes leadership and character development an essential part of the educational experience.
