Hooch, the dog from the 1989 movie "Turner & Hooch" and its 2021 sequel, is a Dogue de Bordeaux. This breed is also known as the Bordeaux Mastiff or French Mastiff and is a large and muscular dog with a stocky build. The Dogue de Bordeaux is a rare breed, with only around 2,000 in the world and about 300 in the United States at the time of the movies production. They are known for their drooling, which is seen in the movie, and weekly brushing is needed to maintain a healthy coat. Hooch was actually played by multiple dogs, one of which was named Beasley.
