Prop Hunt is a popular multiplayer mode in Call of Duty that has existed for several years. It is a hide-and-seek style game where players are divided into two teams: props and hunters. The props are inanimate objects that blend into the environment to avoid detection, while the hunters try to find and eliminate them. There are various mechanics in the game, such as props being able to put down duplicates of themselves, rotate what prop they are, and traverse the map in order to track down the best hiding spot possible.

In the twenty-year history of the series, seven Call of Duty games have boasted a Prop Hunt mode:

It often appeared as a special event mode in most of these titles, but in 2020’s Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War, Prop Hunt peaked, becoming the best that it ever has been. According to a Reddit post, as of June 2022, Black Ops Cold War is the only game that has a permanent Prop Hunt playlist with a healthy player base. However, other games like WWII and Modern Warfare Remastered still have Prop Hunt modes available.
