Terry Fox had osteosarcoma, which is a type of bone cancer. He was diagnosed with this cancer in his right leg in 1977, leading to the amputation of his leg above the knee as part of the treatment. Osteosarcoma is the most common form of primary bone cancer affecting children and teens and was the cancer that ultimately led to his death after it spread to his lungs.
