The purple ribbon is the symbol for pancreatic cancer awareness. The ribbon colors for different types of cancer are determined by nationally recognized, non-profit organizations that provide support, education, and awareness for individual cancers. In addition to pancreatic cancer, there are many different awareness ribbons representing many different types of cancers. Some of these include:
- Bladder cancer (May): Yellow, purple, and navy
- Bone cancer (July): Yellow
- Brain cancer (May): Gray
- Breast cancer (October): Pink
- Childhood cancer (September): Gold
- Colon cancer (March): Dark blue
- Gynecological cancer (September): Peach
- Leukemia (September): Orange
- Liver cancer (October): Green
- Lung cancer (November): Pearl or white
- Prostate cancer (September): Light blue
- Skin cancer (May): Black
Ribbons can be combined to represent multiple cancers, and lavender is sometimes used to recognize cancer as a whole.
