California has banned the sale of candy with four food additives that are thought to be harmful. These additives are red dye 3, potassium bromate, propylparaben, and brominated vegetable oils. However, Skittles are not banned in California, despite initial reports that the law would ban them. The law will affect around 12,000 other candies, cereals, and sodas starting in 2027, and manufacturers will need to change their products recipes by then to legally sell them in the state. Therefore, there is no candy that is specifically banned in California, but some candies may need to be reformulated to comply with the new law.
