Yellowstone National Park is located in the western United States, largely in the northwest corner of Wyoming and extending into Montana and Idaho. The majority of the park (96%) is situated in Wyoming, while a small section of the park (3%) to the north and northwest is in Montana, and a small section of the park (1%) to the west is in Idaho. The nearest town to the parks west entrance is West Yellowstone, Montana.
