There are different types of climate zones, but if you are looking for your USDA plant hardiness zone, you can determine it by using the USDA Plant Hardiness Zone Map. This map is based on the average annual minimum winter temperature, divided into 10-degree F zones and further divided into 5-degree F half-zones. The USDA has designated four zones in Florida--8, 9, 10, and 11. The USDA Hardiness Zone Map divides North America into 11 separate planting zones, each growing zone is 10°F warmer (or colder) in an average winter than the adjacent zone. The hardiness zones defined by the USDA begin with zone 1, which is the coldest (it includes parts of Alaska) and end with zone 13, which encompasses the warmest growing areas, such as Hawaii and the Florida Keys. To determine your zone, you can use the USDA planting zones map, also known as the USDA Hardiness Zone map, and locate where you live on the map.
