Patrick Mahomes played college football at Texas Tech University from 2014 to 2016. He was a backup to Davis Webb during his freshman season, but he split time with him during the season. Mahomes began his sophomore season as the starting quarterback and threw for at least 320 yards in each game. He led all NCAA Division I FBS players in multiple categories including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53) during his junior year. Despite foregoing his senior season, he still managed to finish his college career ranked third in passing yards (11,252), touchdown passes (93), attempts (1,349), and completions (857), and the second Red Raider quarterback of all time with 22 rushing touchdowns.
