The purpose of law is to prohibit and punish people that are violating it, in the very first place. However, it is said that law came first before the crime. This is because you cant identify someones action as a crime if there is no law punishing that action. To illustrate, Australia allowed abortion and its not considered a crime in their country since there is no law punishing it, besides they have a law called Abortion Law that legalizes abortion. Therefore, law comes first because without law, crimes wouldnt be called crimes. In general, the government must enact a criminal law specifying a crime and its elements before it can punish an individual for criminal behavior. Criminal laws are the primary focus of the legal system, and they are created by people and are founded in religious, cultural, and historical value systems. In conclusion, law comes first before the crime.
