The majority of the country, about 97%, is located in Asia, on the Anatolian Peninsula, while the remaining 3% is located in Europe, in a region called East Thrace. Turkey is bordered by several countries, including Greece, Bulgaria, Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. The country is situated at the crossroads of the Balkans, Caucasus, Middle East, and eastern Mediterranean. The capital of Turkey is Ankara, and its largest city and seaport is Istanbul.
