According to Spotify, a song stream is counted when someone listens to a song for over 30 seconds. If a song appears on multiple releases, it counts towards the stream count on every release. Spotify counts one stream anytime a track is listened to for 30 seconds or more, regardless of what song was played before. If people listen to music for 30 seconds and then another 30 seconds, Spotify counts it as two streams. Spotify counts streams when the listener goes online, which must happen at least once every 30 days. Downloaded music also counts towards stream counts. Muted song plays are not counted by Spotify, and the music must not be muted while being streamed in order for the stream to be counted. Spotify counts streams on repeat.
