Disney World is located within Orange and Osceola counties in Florida, United States. The Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) is a governing jurisdiction created in May 1967 by the State of Florida at the request of Disney, which provides 911 services, fire, environmental protection, building code enforcement, utilities, and road maintenance, but does not provide law enforcement services. The RCID is a special taxing district that provides and manages municipal services for the 47-square miles of the Walt Disney World Resort. The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD), formerly the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID), is the governing jurisdiction and special taxing district for the land of Walt Disney World Resort, which includes 39.06 sq mi (101.2 km2) within Orange and Osceola counties in Florida.
